Steven Gerrard has visited the hospital bed of the 10-year-old boy he knocked down on Monday, saying: 'I was worried about you - but I'm glad you're going to be all right.'
The England star sprinted to see Jamie Hellawell at Alder Hey Hospital after training with his Liverpool side.
And he made sure Jamie forgot the pain of his broken leg by handing over a pair of white boots signed by the lad's football hero, Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney.
It didn’t stop there either, as Steve also pulled-out a red England shirt signed by the entire squad and promised Jamie VIP treatment for a match at Old Trafford and Liverpool’s home ground Anfield.
A stunned Jamie said: 'Thanks, Steve. These are amazing!'
The accident happened on Monday after Jamie ran into the path of Steve’s slow-moving Bentley Continental on his way home from school.
Steve immediately stopped and ran to the aid of the injured schoolboy to comfort him until an ambulance arrived.
'He was lovely,' says Jamie's mum Helen to the Daily Mirror.
Steve comments: 'It was a relief to see him sitting up and smiling.'
