Pete Doherty serious about rehab

Bandmates say threat of prison is helping Pete focus

Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty’s band mates say the threat of prison has made him focus on rehab like never before.

‘It’d be naïve of me to say he’ll never take drugs again. But, honestly, I’ve never known him want to give up more,’ says Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek, 27.

‘This is the first time I’ve heard Peter say he’s determined to stick with rehab. Maybe it’s because he knows he’ll go to jail if he doesn’t.’

But it’s not all good news for Pete.

The band are so sure he’s going to wind up behind bars that they’re busy finishing the latest Babyshambles album while he’s holed up in the Clouds rehab clinic, Wiltshire.

‘We obviously hope Peter won’t be sent down but we can’t take any chances,’ Adam tells Teletext’s Planet Sound.

‘We have a lot of extra tracks to do, and the sensible thing is to record them now when we can definitely be together.’

Babyshambles new album Shooter’s Nation is released on 1 October.
