Jamelia: Why would anyone want to look like Nicole Richie?

Singer criticises celeb for being a negative role model

Jamelia has slammed Nicole Richie – accusing her of being a bad role model for young girls.

The singer is appalled at how skinny celebrities are glamourised in the media - and can't understand why anyone would aspire to be stick-thin.

‘People like Nicole are hyped as being stylish but they’re emaciated. Why would anyone want to look like that?’ she asks.

Of course, Nicole is now pregnant and filling out a little but Jamelia says she almost burst into tears when her 6-year-old daughter Teja complained of being overweight after watching a programme on skinny stars.

‘These girls don’t realise the sort of message they’re sending out to kids,’ Jamelia, 26, tells Sunday.

‘You shouldn’t deprive yourself – I have a bit of chocolate cake if I want it. If I didn’t and got knocked down a bus tomorrow, I’d regret it.’
