Rihanna: Leave Britney Spears alone

Singer defends troubled star over her MTV performance

Rihanna has hit out at reviewers who sniped about Britney Spears’ performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 19-year-old says the star, who was criticised for being out of time and overweight, needs a bit of understanding.

‘She had so much pressure for that one performance,' Rihanna tells Entertainmentwise.

‘I'm telling you, it's not easy being on that stage. To have the amount of pressure that Britney had? I don't know what I would've done.

‘She did her best, so leave her alone.’
