Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans tie the knot in Mexico

Top-secret ceremony gives the couple a special day in private

Hornblower heartthrob Ioan Gruffudd married British actress Alice Evans on Friday night at a secret ceremony in the ultra-chic One & Only Palmilla Hotel in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Both bride and groom walked down the aisle in custom-made designs by Giorgio Armani.

Ioan, 33, opted for a midnight blue suit of wool crepe, while Alice, 36, wore an antique white strapless gown made of cascading tiers of organza.

'It was an intimate gathering,' a source tells People magazine. 'Friends and family travelled all over the world for it.'

The newly-weds first met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000, but kept their relationship and subsequent engagement a closely guarded secret until the MTV Movie Awards in June.

Despite saying they both miss Britain, the Los Angeles-based couple chose to wed in Mexico as a sign of commitment to their new Californian life.

‘We thought we'd celebrate our new life here,’ says Ioan. ‘We moved here about five years ago. We've embraced it and are loving living here.’
