Reese Witherspoon: Mum helped me get through divorce

Splitting from Ryan Phillippe was tough

Reese Witherspoon has spoken about the breakdown of her marriage to Ryan Phillippe for the first time.

The 31-year-old’s divorce from the actor, 32, was finalised last week and she says the process has been tough.

‘It’s been a challenging year,’ she explains. ‘You have to focus on the good things, but there are days, of course, when I feel pretty rotten.’

Reese says her family and children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4, have helped her get through the break-up.

‘I feel I am so lucky to have a wonderful family and great friends,’ she tells the Daily Mirror. ‘My brother calls me 3 times a day to see how I’m doing and that’s a real stabilising element in my life.

‘I also talk to my mother a lot. She’s wonderful, loving influence in my life and full of practical advice. She’s been really helpful to me.’
