Actor's directorial debut shelved in the UK
Friday, 14 September 2007
The UK release of Ben Affleck's directorial debut movie has been shelved indefinitely because of its startling similarities to the Madeleine McCann abduction case.
Gone Baby Gone, starring Casey Affleck (Ben's Brother) and Morgan Freeman, was due to hit screens in December.
The plot centres on the abduction of a four-year-old girl who is left alone in a house for a short while by her mother.
'We don't want to release the movie if it is going to touch a nerve or inflame anybody's sensitivities,' says Ben, 35.
'It is just a commercial matter, whereas this [Madeleine's disappearance] is a matter of life and death.'
