Jim Davidson: I'm a non-PC fossil

Former Hell’s Kitchen chef speaks out over ‘offensive’ comments

BBC TV PHOTOCALL FOR JIM DAVIDSON\'S GENERATION GAME

Jim Davidson has admitted that it was right for him to leave Hell’s Kitchen after his jibes about gay men being 'shirt-lifters'.

The 53-year-old comedian has realised that his opinions are out-of-date but he denies being homophobic.

‘People who know me know I am not homophobic. Maybe I was Brian-ophobic,’ he said before leaving the show.

‘We are all owning up really that I don’t quite fit here. I’m a non-PC fossil, really.

'I say the odd thing that seems to upset people without me realising it and then, when I get a reaction from someone, I feel sort of put upon and I overreact.'

The TV presenter says he feels out of place in the modern world.

‘To be truthful, this is a young person’s television. My day went out with The Generation Game and TV has moved on from there.'
