Lindsay Lohan gets a visit from dad in rehab

Actress gets closure

The planned meeting between Lindsay Lohan and her father, Michael Lohan, has taken place at the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah, Lindsay's mother, Dina Lohan, confirms to PEOPLE.

"Lindsay, myself and my son, Michael Jr., agreed that it would be good for her to have some closure with the situation with her dad. It's part of the healing process," says Dina.

Lindsay checked into Cirque Lodge following her July 24 DUI arrest. Her face-to-face with her father was first reported by Access Hollywood.

According to Access, the reunion marks the first time the 21-year-old actress has seen her father since he was released in March from having served 2 years in New York State Prison for driving while intoxicated and other disorderly behavior charges. She previously has been paid visits by her mother, Dina, and her siblings Cody and Ali.

Asked if she is happy about the reunion of Lindsay and Michael Sr., Dina tells PEOPLE: "I am. I wanted it to happen for Lindsay."

She added, "She needed to do this for herself. It's still her father, no matter how you slice it. It's still her dad, and God willing he'll get it."

Michael Lohan has previously bristled at Dina's claims that she helped facilitate a meeting with Lindsay. Michael's attorney, John DiMascio, tells PEOPLE of the visit: "Lindsay wanted to see Michael, he went, and he's in Utah."

A source close to Lohan says the actress is scheduled to complete her program at the Cirque Lodge in approximately two weeks.

Lohan's rep had no comment. Calls to her lawyer and to Michael Lohan were not immediately returned.
