George Michael tipped to write Spice Girls' Christmas single

They’ll be vying for the top spot against X Factor winner

Music legend George Michael is being lined up to pen the Spice Girls’ Christmas single.

‘The girls are thrilled to be in talks with George,’ says a source.

‘He's one of the most talented songwriters around and it'll make their comeback bigger and better than ever.’

Emma Bunton, 31, Victoria Beckham, 33, Mel C, 33, Mel B, 32, and Geri Halliwell, 35, will be vying with the winner of The X Factor for the top slot.

‘This year's Christmas No 1 is a two-horse race and is impossible to call,’ the source tells the News Of The World.

‘The X Factor looks unstoppable and the show's been getting some really good ratings, too.’
