Britney Spears could make her comeback by opening the MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer, 25, is currently working on a new album after a two-year break.

And she’s planning a surprise performance at the Las Vegas ceremony on 9 September.

A representative for MTV remained tight-lipped.

‘I cannot confirm or deny it,’ he tells E! Online.
