Sharon Osbourne has spoken about her dad's death for the first time since he lost his battle with Alzheimer's two weeks ago – and says she’s glad she was able to be there for his last moments.

The X Factor judge and music mogul dad Don Arden, 81, were estranged for over 23 years, but put their differences behind them after he was diagnosed with the condition in 2002.

Sharon, 55, reveals: ‘Obviously, it was very sad. But he was really suffering and nobody deserves that kind of pain.

‘I'm happy I managed to be there and spend time with him when he went.’

And Sharon defends her decision not to attend Don's funeral.

‘I looked after him for years,’ she tells the Daily Mirror. ‘I didn't go because I didn't want it to become a circus.

‘I know in my heart that I did everything I could for him - and no one else can judge me on that. No one.’
