Pete Doherty tells Sir Paul McCartney he’s off drugs

Singer interviews the legend for Observer Music Monthly

Pete Doherty and Sir Paul McCartney

Pete Doherty has reassured Sir Paul McCartney he’s off drugs – in a one-to-one interview for a music magazine.

The Babyshambles frontman interviewed the Beatles star, 65, for Observer Music Monthly – and was even granted special permission to leave the Clouds rehab centre for the occasion.

‘Pete didn’t sleep the night before,’ a source tells the Daily Mirror, ‘he was just thinking about what he was going to say to the legend.’

But friends of Pete, 28, say they got on brilliantly – and even talked about Pete’s drug addiction.

‘They got on really well and Pete found Paul very supportive,’ says the source.

‘Pete promised he was serious about getting clean, he was through with the drugs and said he never wanted to fall back into his dark days again.’
