JK Rowling: I’m proud people thought Harry Potter would die

Author says she couldn’t bring herself to kill boy wizard off

J.K. Rowling

JK Rowling has revealed she intended fans to think Harry Potter would die in the final book.

The author, 41, says she wanted to fuel the buzz surrounding the release of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

‘I'm very proud of the fact that as we went into this book many, many readers believed it was a real possibility that Harry would die,’ she tells reports NBC's The Today Show.

‘That's what I was aiming for, that you really felt that anyone was up for grabs.’

But she admits she almost did kill him off - but couldn’t bring herself to do it because of fan pressure.
