L’Oreal ads showed actress in falsh lashes
Wednesday, 25 July 2007
L'Oreal has been ticked off for 'misleading' make-up adverts featuring Penelope Cruz.
In TV ads, the Hollywood star's voice tells viewers that Telescopic mascara creates 'Lashes that could reach for the stars'.
But an eagle-eyed viewer spotted that Penelope, 33, was wearing false eyelashes for the commercials and complained to the Advertising Standards Authority who agreed that they 'failed to be accurate and true'.
Now the corporation must add a disclaimer to future adverts.
A spokesperson for L’Oreal says: ‘It is common industry practice to make use of some artificial lashes in order to ensure consistent lash line under filming.’
