This week, our testers sample cream eyeshadows in this season’s sheer metallics

1. Lancôme Ombre Glacée Cooling Gel Eye Shadow in 01, £14.50
The hype: Delivers extreme cool freshness and an icy vinyl look to eyes.
The verdict: 10/10 ‘The colour was soft, shimmery and really brightened up my eyes, while the cooling formula was very refreshing.’ Leanne, 30

2. Revlon Liquid Shadow in Molten Metal, £12
The hype: This liquid shadow drapes lids in bolts of metallic colour.
The verdict: 9/10 ‘Despite the watery formula, it was easy to apply, lasted well and the colour was soft and sheer. I’d recommend it.’ Liz, 24

3. MAC Paints in Sublime Nature, £12
The hype: Tara Palmer-Tomkinson loves this silky eyeshadow with concentrated pearl pigments.
The verdict: 9/10 ‘It stayed on well, was easy to remove and, unlike most cream shadows, didn’t migrate into my lines.’ Julie, 37

4. BeneFit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in RSVP, £13
The hype: This do-it-all shadow shades and contours eyes with a crease-proof, smudge-proof formula.
The verdict: 8/10 ‘Worked well as a highlighter, too. Even though it did crease a
bit, it was really easy to smooth out.’ Miranda, 31

5. Clinique Touch Tint For Eyes in 07, £12
The hype: The cream-to-powder formula stays perfect for up to eight hours.
The verdict: 7/10 ‘I’m not a big eyeshadow fan, but this gave a sheer wash of colour that looked very pretty. It didn’t last eight hours, though.’ Naomi, 25

6. The Body Shop Cream Eye Colour in Arctic Ivy, £8.50
The hype: Contains Community Trade marula oilto condition while it colours.
The verdict: 3/10 ‘Cute packaging, but the quick-dry formula made blending it a nightmare. My lids looked like a patchwork quilt!’ Amy, 27

7. Laura Mercier Metallic Créme Eye Colour in Pink Gold, £17
The hype: The highly pigmented formula delivers an intense wash of colour.
The verdict: 2/10 ‘It was messy to apply and gathered in my lines. I definitely expect much better results for that kind of money.’ Sam, 35
