Star told her voice was too American for documentary
Friday, 20 July 2007
Catherine Zeta Jones had to re-learn her Welsh accent for a documentary because the producer didn't want her to have an American twang.
John Morgan, who asked the Hollywood star to be the narrator for A Mountain To Climb, suggested she got back her natural Swansea lilt by chatting to her dad on the phone.
'A lot has been said about her accent, and I was very aware of it,' he tells the Western Mail
'When I first met her in New York to talk about the project, she was making a film where she had an American accent, so you could hear it in her voice.
'So we made sure that when we went to record her in her home in Spain, she had the full Welsh treatment before we started recording.
"And we encouraged her to talk to her dad on the phone too. The end result sounds wonderful.'
A Mountain To Climb will raise money for the NSPCC Wales Full Stop appeal. It will be screened on ITV1 Wales later this year.
