The gang of masked burglars who held Kerry Katona and her family hostage in the early hours of Monday morning entered the house through an unlocked door.
The former Atomic Kitten singer, her five-month-old daughter Heidi Elizabeth, and hubbie Mark Croft were held at knife-point by the intruders who threatened to kill them.
The couple have a state-of-the-art security system at their Cheshire home but it was switched off - allowing the intruders to let themselves into the house.
'Kerry and Mark didn't have the alarm on because they were in - they were downstairs in the cinema,' publicist Max Clifford tells The Daily Mail.
'It looks like the burglars thought no one was at home because there were no lights on upstairs and saw an opportunity.'
Now Kezza, 26, is reportedly stumping up a whopping £100,000 to build a steel wall around the perimeter of her Cheshire mansion to keep out any more unwelcome visitors.
Just remember to shut the gate behind you, luv!
