Victoria Beckham: Tom and Katie are 'lovely people'

Posh says the Hollywood couple's Scientology beliefs don't bother her

Victoria Beckham says Scientology never gets in the way of her friendship with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and calls the couple "wonderful" people who have been a source of support as she and her family prepares to move to America.

"There's been so much made of the Scientology, the this, the that," Beckham tells Matt Lauer of NBC's Today show in an interview set to air Thursday morning. "They are genuinely lovely people. Wonderful family."

"So, it never even comes up with you?" Lauer asks, referring to Scientology. "No," replies Beckham. "They do their thing. We do our thing. They are a wonderful family."

Beckham, 33, also says Holmes in particular has been helpful with the family's upcoming move. "She's a very strong, sweet, lovely girl," says Beckham. "She's helped me so much with the move. She's genuinely a nice girl."

Beckham, 33, aka Posh Spice, and her soccer superstar husband David, 32, are moving to Los Angeles from Spain this month, as David trades his Real Madrid jersey for an L.A. Galaxy one. He is scheduled to be officially introduced as the newest member of the team at a press conference on Friday.

In a separate interview with the Associated Press and Reuters, Victoria says it's an exciting time for the whole family, including the couple's three sons – Brooklyn, 8, Romeo, 4, and Cruz, 2.

They think "they're actually moving to Disneyland," she says.

As a parent she tells Lauer "there are always going to be concerns" with moving to a new place. But, she says, "We've always really liked America. You know, we like American people. We love the American attitude. So, this is a fantastic opportunity."

Americans will get a glimpse of the Beckhams on July 16 in a one-hour NBC special, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. The show focuses on the family's preparations for the move.

Once here, she tells AP, don't expect the couple to always be in the headlines. "There are people that are much more famous in L.A. than David and myself," she says. "We're not out every night. We're probably a lot more boring than people think."
