Rhydian Roberts: I'm not gay

The X Factor finalist talks about claims he's a camp virgin

X Factor’s Rhydian Roberts says the first person he'll kiss if he's lucky enough to win The X Factor is presenter Dermot O'Leary.

But the platinum blond Welsh singer, 24, says he's not gay. He fancies girls, just does not believe in sex before marriage.

‘That is not saying that I can't have fun with a lady. I love the company of women,’ he says.

‘I have been offered sex, like most men. But if you believe in something you can't compromise. But I am only human and you can fall short. At the moment, my priority is singing.’

A devout Christian, Rhydian insists he’s not a hardcore Bible basher.

‘I am not a closet Christian,’ he tells the Daily Mirror. ‘If someone asks me about it, I will talk about it. I do pray on Saturdays but then I pray every day.’

He understands why singing camp classic Go West on the X Factor may have made people question his sexuality - but they're wrong.

‘If people are assuming that I am gay, or whatever, that is fine,’ he explains. ‘They don't know me and I dress quite camp. But I can say categorically that I am 100 per cent straight.’
