'My boy isn’t stupid!' says Brian Belo's mum

Brian's mother stands up for her son after he’s branded ‘brainless’

Not since Jade Goody asked if East Anglia (or Angular, as she pronounced it) was abroad had any Big Brother housemate made such a stupid statement.

Then Brian Belo came along...

But Brian’s mother Sam Smith has jumped to the defence of her son, claiming that his stupidity is part of a game plan.

‘He’s being portrayed as the Essex idiot, but he’s not thick,’ says Sam, 53.

‘It’s a game show and he’s playing it. He’s clever. The housemates all like him, so he must know what he’s doing.’

Brian, 19, claimed to not know who Shakespeare was when questioned about Romeo And Juliet and asked if Romeo was ‘that bloke out of So Solid Crew’.

But his mum insists that he knows exactly who the Bard is.
