Michelle Pfeiffer: Women are responsible for size zero

Star says girls put pressure on each other

Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer has revealed she thinks women are responsible for creating the size zero phenomenon.

The 49-year-old Hollywood star says we only have ourselves to blame.

'The truth is, it's women who have created the myth that skinny is attractive,' she says.

'Men don't want undernourished and bony women.

'And they don't find grotesque plastic surgery attractive either. So it can only be women who put the pressure on themselves.

'Why are we doing this to each other? It's crazy.'

And the glamorous actress doesn't think the fashion world is doing enough to help.

'The fashion industry likes to give the impression that it's using more realistic-sized models,' she tells Celebs On Sunday, 'but you still see ill-looking waifs on the catwalk so whatever is being done is half-hearted.

'Women today have a big challenge ahead to stop this. The trend doesn't seem to be going away.'
