He tells of heartbreak over rift with parents

Pete Doherty doesn't speak to his mum Jacqueline because she wrote a warts-and-all book about his life.

‘It kills me. I love her but things are very strained and difficult just now,’ he says.

‘I felt a bit betrayed, to be honest, about what she did. We have a lot of issues to sit down and sort through.

‘I'm an emotional guy and just talking about it is difficult. I always end up weeping.’

Pete’s relationship with his Army Major dad Peter is also fractious. His father disowned him because the Babyshambles singer, 28, refused to give up heroin and cocaine.

‘I can understand him turning his back on me after everything I've done,’ Pete tells the Daily Mirror.

‘Whatever has happened in the past, I love and respect my father unconditionally. He doesn't want anything to do with me just now, but it's important for me that he knows I truly adore him.’
