Katie Holmes runs New York Marathon in 5½ hours

Actress finishes 26-mile race

Katie Holmes completed the ING New York City Marathon yesterday, flying past the finish line after running a staggering 26 miles.

The actress wore a pink sports top and tracksuit as she joined more that 39,000 other runners competing in the race.

While the fit 28-year-old endured the 5½ hour slog, hubby Tom Cruise and daughter Suri, 1, cheered her along the route, before giving her a well-deserved hug at the end.

The Big Apple's marathon course travels through all five boroughs of the city, starting on Staten Island and finishing in Manhattan's Central Park.

British world record-holder Paula Radcliffe won the women's event, finishing in 2 hours and 23 minutes.
