America goes potty for talent show winner
Wednesday, 20 June 2007
Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts has signed a £1m multi-record deal with Simon Cowell.
The mobile phone salesman has been snapped up by the 47-year-old pop mogul’s Syco Music record label.
‘I’m over the moon — I can’t believe any of this,’ says Paul.
‘Simon’s been true to his word, this has given me the most amazing opportunity. None of this has sunk in yet.’
Paul, 36, starts work on the album next week, but he flies out to New York today after frenzied interest from US stations.
The opera singer, dubbed ‘Pava-potti’ will perform on the Today show on NBC tomorrow morning.
‘We’ve had a huge amount of interest in Paul from the US so it only seems right we should release his music over there,’ an insider tells The Sun.
‘They know all about the show because they have their own version America’s Got Talent, which is their biggest show at the moment.’
