Johnny Borrell: Pete Doherty helped me quit drugs

But he says the Babyshambles singer is beyond help

Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell has revealed that Pete Doherty helped him beat his own heroin addiction.

The 27-year-old was once a junkie but the Babyshambles singer helped him get clean.

Substance abuse is 'not a good one for your creativity,' says Johnny, 'but it's a good one if you want to fall out of cars and go to parties and have people you don't give a shit about tell you you're great.'

Johnny has offered to help Pete sort himself out but fears he is beyond saving.

‘I did once say to him that if he fancied having a cup of tea and watching Hancock’s Half Hour or something, I’d be up for it, but I wasn’t into smoking crack,’ he tells the Daily Record.

‘I can’t help him. I don’t think anyone can. You can inspire people but you can only help yourself.’
