Steven Gerrard and Alex Curran wed this weekend

Expect two cute bridesmaids and plenty of fish and chips...

Bridesmaids: ‘Our two beautiful daughters are going to be bridesmaids,’ says Liverpool skipper Steven, 26. ‘I want Alex to have the best day of her life.’ While three-year-old Lilly-Ella is said to be excited and a little bit nervous, her one-year-old sister Lexie is a bit young to understand what’s going on.

Guest list: There’ll be 200 there, including Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin (who may also make appearances at other WAG weddings on the day), best man Danny Murphy, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Girls Aloud stars Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole and husband Ashley.

Menu: Fish and chips, mashed potatoes, curry, trifle, bacon sarnies and champagne.

Secrets: Take That’s Gary Barlow will play piano at the reception, after Girls Aloud turned it down, no doubt preferring to be guests instead! Alex has hired David MacCarfrae to design one of his £20,000 masterpiece 10ft wedding cakes.

The party will have exclusive use of the hotel’s golf course, spa and chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royces, costing £200,000 for the three-day event. ‘It’ll be a big do with lots of family and friends,’ says Alex.

The dress: Alex, 24, remains tight-lipped about who designed her dress, but does admit that she found it in Paris and has been back and forth for fittings.

‘When my dress was all ready for me with the veil and everything, it gave me butterflies. It’ll be a big fairytale one,’ she revealed. ‘I’m not having any big nights beforehand so that I can look my best.’ We’ve got our money on Balenciaga or Chloé, her favourite labels.

How it all started: The couple met in a Liverpool nightclub in 2002 and two years later, Steven popped the question. He hid Alex’s £30,000 10-carat diamond engagement ring in a box in the folds of baby Lilly-Ella’s blanket.

‘I opened it to see this amazing diamond ring,’ said Alex. ‘It’s beautiful, with a rock in the middle and heart-shaped diamonds on each side, but what I love about it the most is that he designed it himself.’

Cost: £500,000.
