Posh boy beats Kristina Grimes to Alan Sugar's top job
Thursday, 14 June 2007
Sir Alan Sugar has chosen his apprentice – posh entrepreneur Simon Ambrose.
The 27-year-old beat Kristina Grimes, hot favourite to win the show after Katie Hopkins quit, in the shock finale last night.
Single mum Kirstina, 36, was hopping mad and she wasn't the only one. Several of the show’s sacked contestants threatened to walk off the set of You’re Hired.
‘Some were furious and thought that Kristina deserved to win,’ says a show insider. ‘A couple didn’t join in the applause for Simon and there was talk of leaving.’
The Cambridge graduate won the £100k-a-year post after coming up trumps in the task to design a new building for London’s skyline.
But Simon, who’ll now be working on a project to develop a hotel and golf complex near Stansted airport, says he’s worthy of the job.
‘I deserve to be here,' he tells the Daily Mirror. 'I guess my life has come full circle from when I was playing on my Amstrad computer aged six.'
Let’s hope he sticks around longer than last year's winner, blink-and-you’ll-miss-her Michelle Dewberry.
