George Michael wants to buy £50m diamond skull

Singer is ready to shell out for artist Damien Hirst’s latest creation

George Michael and Kenny Goss

Pop legend George Michael is readying an offer of £50m for a diamond-encrusted skull created by Brit artist Damien Hirst.

The platinum piece – called For The Love Of God - is studded with 8,601 top quality diamonds and is officially the world’s most expensive piece of art.

George, 43, and boyfriend Kenny Goss, 48, are admirers of Damian's work and the former Wham! star already owns Saint Sebastian, Exquisite Pain – which is a calf’s body pierced by dozens of arrows, preserved in formaldehyde.

‘George and Kenny took in a private viewing,’ the couple’s spokesman tells the Daily Mirror. ‘They looked at the skull as a possible addition to their collection.’

The art enthusiasts will launch the Goss-Michael Foundation - a charity to promote young artists – this month.
