Jailed heiress Paris Hilton claims that she's changed her ways and wants to 'make a difference' in the world.
In a phone interview from prison, the 26-year-old has described her first few days behind bars as ‘a horrible experience’.
‘I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage,’ she told Barbara Walters on ABC News.
Paris says jail and the media frenzy surrounding her sentencing has forced her to clean up her act.
‘I used to act dumb,’ she admits. ‘That act is no longer cute. Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance.’
Paris spoke to Barbara after ringing her mother and disocovering that Kathy was on the other line to the TV journalist.
The hotel heiress, who was sent back to jail this weekend, is currently under observation in the medical ward at the LA Twin Towers jail.
She has told her lawers not to appeal against her sentence and insists she hopes: ‘the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq’.
