Star gets community service instead
Friday, 8 June 2007
Singer George Michael has been spared the Paris Hilton treatment and won't be going to jail.
The star, 43, was given 100 hours of community service and a two year driving ban, after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs at a London court.
Now he's ready to consign his brush with the law to the history books, and start exercising his vocal cords for a sell-out Wembley gig this weekend.
'I'm glad to put this behind me,' he tells the BBC. 'Now I'm off to do the biggest show of my life.'
Last October the singer was found slumped at the wheel of his Mercedes, blaming 'tiredness and prescribed drugs' for the offence.
