Paris Hilton released from jail

Hotel heiress leaves prison early to go under house arrest

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that Paris Hilton has left jail after serving just a few days of a 23-day prison term.

The decision was made by officials at the Century Regional Detention Centre, where Paris was locked up, in consultation with doctors.

Under house arrest at her Hollywood home – and fitted with an electronic monitoring device – the hotel heiress will now have to complete the full 45-day sentence she was orginally ordered to serve.

Paris, 26, had violated her probation for a drink-driving charge by driving with a suspended licence.
