Apprentice star Katie Hopkins: I quit

The mum-of-two bails as Simon and Kristina progress to final

Business tycoon Sir Alan Sugar was left gobsmacked last night when Apprentice high-flyer Katie Hopkins quit.

Alpha female Katie was a cert for the final - until Sir Alan noticed that she didn't seem overjoyed at hearing the news.

The mum-of-two, 31, then dropped the bombshell, saying that she didn't want to uproot her family from Exeter in Devon.

'I don't want to make a fool of you or me. I think it's more important to have the courtesy to get my plans in place, so I'll have to stands down,' she explained.

Katie's departure leaves Simon Ambrose, 27, and Kristina Grimes, 36, to vie for the £100,000 contract in next week's final.

Before applying for the hit BBC show, brand consultant Katie was earning £90,000 a year - so Alan's job wasn't such a huge carrot.

Although she's now using the same PR agency as Robbie Williams to handle media interest, last night on BBC2's You're Fired, Katie denied she was simply seeking fame.
