Jessica Alba: I was a real-life Ugly Betty

Actress says she was minging at school

She's been voted The World's Sexiest Woman but Jessica Alba says she was no hottie at High School.

Jess, 26, is known for her honey-hued skin and perfect curves. But she definitely wasn't the popular girl in class.

'I grew up with bad teeth and braces and I even had a lisp,' she confesses. 'At school, I was friends with all the nerds, so when I started getting a lot of attention, it was a shock to me.

'It was great in some ways but I was always wondering in the back of my mind why everyone was suddenly so interested.'

And the actress says that, even now, she doesn't always go for trendy clothes.

'I have my own style and don't try to fit in or go for the trendiest look,' she tells Sunday magazine.

'I'm not the kind of girl who spends her days shopping for designer clothes. A pair of jeans and a T-shirt or a frilly summer dress is fine with me.'
