Chris Evans and Billie Piper to divorce...finally

Estranged couple make their split official

It's been one of the most amicable separations in Celebland.

But Billie Piper and husband Chris are finally divorcing - three years after the breakdown of their marriage.

Sources close to the pair claim the Radio 2 DJ has instigated proceedings because he wants to marry his girlfriend of nine months, professional golfer Natasha Shishmanian, 27.

But Chris, 41, and Billie remain good friends, and it is understood that the 24-year-old actress will not request a single penny of his estimated £30million fortune.

The decree nisi has gone through the Family Division at London's High Court but it will take a further six weeks for the process to be finalised.

The couple married in Las Vegas in May 2001 but separated in October 2004.

In 2005, Chris admitted their 16-year age gap was to blame for the breakdown of the marriage.

'Our lives changed,' he admitted. 'She got her career back on track. It was evident we weren't the same people, and although splitting up hurt, it was the best thing we ever did, apart from marrying in the first place.'
