Gemma Atkinson's TV karaoke contest is no more
Friday, 25 May 2007
Soapstar Superstar has been axed by ITV chiefs despite its popularity with viewers.
The show, that saw soap stars battle each other in a televised karaoke contest, helped to raise the profile of Corrie's Richard Fleeshman and Hollyoaks' Gemma Atkinson.
But now bosses have decided not to commission another series.
'We have decided to rest Soapstar Superstar next year,' an ITV spokeswoman says. 'But it may well come back one day.'
