George Michael: Nobody ever came home stoned and beat up their wife

Star admits he became addicted to prescription drugs

George Michael

George Michael thinks the world would be an 'easier place to live with' if cannabis was legalised.

The star says it chills you out - unlike alcohol which can make you aggressive

'Nobody ever came home stoned and beat up their wife,' the star told chat show host Michael Parkinson in an interview broadcast tonight.

'I'm not going to pretend that my drug of choice is not marijuana.

'It's a terrible drug at certain points in your life - when you're young. But as a 43-year-old gay man, who exactly am I meant to be influencing?'

George admitted that becoming addicted to prescription drugs had given him unbearable insomnia.

He was found slumped over the wheel of his car earlier this year and is due to return to court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs.
