Beth Ditto: I sing in my sleep

Gossip singer drove family mad with her nocturnal antics

The Gossip singer Beth Ditto, 21, used to wind up her family by singing in her sleep. Her brothers and sisters even threatended to kill her because they were so fed up.

'My mom is an amazing singer and I just picked it up,' she told Radio 1. 'At the age of two I knew all the words to Frosty The Snowman.

'I once sang so loud in my sleep I woke my mom up and she came in and woke me up, but I was totally out of it. I didn't know I'd been singing.'

Beth has also confessed she was shocked but delighted to be asked to pose for fashion bible Vogue. The curvaceous star did a shoot for the magazine and was stunned when they turned her photos into a huge feature.

'It was really amazing,' she says. 'When they invited me to do it I thought they'd stick me as a tiny thing in the bottom corner of a page so I was really surprised when they didn't.

'It was a shock to be asked because in the issue before they had an article about how clothes look best on size eight girls. I thought, "That's interesting".'
