Singer tops celebrity poll for coverage
Friday, 11 May 2007
We can't say it's a major surprise but Britney Spears has officially been voted the most overexposed celebrity in the world.
In a new survey, 72 per cent of the US public said they believed the Toxic singer has been overexposed in 2007, while only 54 per cent thought the same way five years ago.
Other stars to make the overexposed top five were Paris Hilton, Britney's estranged husband Kevin Federline, Tom Cruise and Paris' friend Nicole Richie.
Richard Spencer, editor-in-chief of US magazine In Touch Weekly, says it is the celebrities who are to blame for their overexposure.
'No one wants to read about the cup of tea and the great banana bread a star made yesterday,' he says. 'What gets exposure? Kissing a guy at four in the morning.'
(The poll was conducted by Encino - a California-based E-Poll Market Research company which provides appeal rankings for more than 3,000 celebrities.)
