Courteney Cox: Post-natal depression left me in bits

Star says the baby blues knocked her for six

Courteney Cox

Ex-Friends star Courteney Cox says post-natal depression left her feeling like a wreck.

The 42-year-old - who's married to actor David Arquette, 35 - become a first-time mum to their daughter Coco two years ago. But six months after her little girl's birth, she spiralled into depression.

'I went through a really hard time,' she says. 'I couldn't sleep. My heart was racing. And I got really depressed.

'I went to the doctors and found my hormones had been really pummelled.'

With the help of anti-depressants and the support of friends like Jennifer Aniston and Brooke Shields, who also suffered with post-natal depression, Courteney worked through it and is now ready for child number two.

'We've got to try for a boy,' she tells the Sunday Express S magazine. 'We've got to have a little boy Arquette in the family.'
