Courteney Cox has revealed her lack of inhibition drove her and hubby David Arquette to have counselling.
The couple - who met on the set of Scream and married in San Francisco in 1999 - have made no secret of using therapists to help maintain their relationship. But Courteney, 42, now admits they searched for help when rows kept exploding in public.
'We got into these fights over stupid stuff, but I could see how relationships break up if you don't ask, "What are we doing?",' she says. 'So we went to a therapist and he broke it down for us.
'He said, "Courteney, can you see how David gets embarrassed to have any kind of public fight?"
'I don't scream, but I have no problem saying what I'm feeling in the moment. But David's the opposite, so if I need to get something out, I have to say, "David, can you come and talk to me about something outside?"
'If we'd done that before, our fights wouldn't have got nearly so big.'
Courteney, who's currently starring in TV show Dirt, recently added fuel to the rumours her marriage was over by dropping Arquette from her name.
But, David, 35, tells the Sunday Express S magazine that she did this to honour her father.
'She changed her name to mine when we got married, but once her father died, she wanted to go back to Cox,' he explains. 'She wanted to have that for him.'
