Singer doesn't need drugs to help her cope with fame
Sunday, 6 May 2007
Natasha Bedingfield admits that selling 6.5 million records worldwide and cracking the US market comes with a certain amount of pressure.
But she's not the type to turn to heavy drinking or drugs for support, like so many of her peers.
'It is hard,' she says. 'You have such a high while performing and then you get offstage and it all starts to crash.
'You feel so low, you criticise your performance, and that is why people take drugs or drink.
'I cope by having friends around me - we keep each other up. I like drinking, but if I got drunk every night I wouldn't be able to catch a plane at 5am the next morning. Three glasses is my limit.'
And her upbringing as a Christian also keeps her feet firmly on the ground. In 2003, Natasha, 25, co-wrote and performed on a single for Hillsong, a label attached to the evangelical church of the same name.
But, as she tells You magazine, 'Faith is a personal thing.'
