Singer is improving after meningitis nightmare

Peter Andre is finally showing signs of recovering from viral meningitis.

But doctors have warned him it will be weeks before he's better, and have ordered him not to work until June.

'It really was touch and go on Friday,' a spokesman for Peter told The Sun. 'But doctors feel he is over the worst and now he feels a bit perkier.

'Peter is absolutely overwhelmed by all the messages of support he has received. He hates letting people down but everyone understands his health must come first.'

The singer, 34, was taken ill more than a week ago and was admitted to hospital with a mysterious bug.

On Friday doctors at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill said the star, who is married to glamour girl Jordan, was suffering from viral meningitis.

A new fly-on-the-wall TV show about the couple is on hold until he recovers fully.
