Alec Baldwin apologises for answer phone rant

The actor says he's sorry for calling his 11-year-old daughter a 'thoughtless little pig'

Hollywood star Alec Baldwin has apologised for ranting at his daughter Ireland, 11, in an answer phone message – calling her a ‘rude, thoughtless little pig’.

The actor’s marriage to Kim Basinger ended in 2000 and the couple’s divorce proceedings and custody battle have made headline news, with bitter allegations on both sides.

In Alec’s message, which was recorded on 11 April, he is apparently very upset because Ireland, who lives in LA with her mum, did not answer her phone at 7.30am for a planned call with her dad from New York.

‘You have insulted me for the last time!’ he says. ‘You've made me feel like a fool over and over and over again.’

After the tape became available on the internet, Alec, 49 - pictured here with Kim when Ireland was a baby – wrote on his website: ‘I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child.’

On Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Maren Nelson heard the tape and temporarily suspended Alec's visitation rights to see his daughter.
