Hilary Duff: I’ve never had an eating disorder

Stars says rumours are absurd

Actress and singer Hilary Duff says that rumours about her having anorexia are nonsense.

‘There has been speculation in the press that I’ve suffered from eating disorders, which is an absurd suggestion,’ she insists.

But the 19-year-old isn’t entirely happy with her appearance. ‘There are days when I wake up with spots and feel unattractive,’ says Hilary. ‘Sometimes I feel fat and ugly… I’m just as prone to off-days as anyone else.’

She went through a ‘goofy-looking stage’ at 11 and says she didn’t develop a sense of how she looked until her early teens.

‘It’s unfortunate that young girls see stars such as myself as role models as they're given a false sense of reality,’ the Texan beauty told The Independent Magazine.

‘Lighting and make-up play a huge part in shoots – if only they could see me when I wake up.’
