David Tennant: Jamie Oliver inspired my Doctor Who look

Timelord copied chef's clothes

It's hard to imagine Doctor Who wearing anything other than David Tennant's suit and trainers combo.

But according to the actor, 35, he had to persuade the show's writer, Russell T Davies, to change the Timelord's look.

And David was inspired by the most unlikely of fashion icons - Jamie Oliver.

The chef was sporting a suit and trainers during an appearance on the Michael Parkinson show when the actor spotted him.

'I rang Russell and said: "Could we do this for the Doctor?"' he said. 'They wanted me in stompy posh boots but the trainers were the thing I did go to the wall on.'

We think you pull it off a treat, David.
