Les Battersby is sent home from Corrie

Actor Bruce Jones is axed from the Street for six weeks

Corrie star Bruce Jones has been told not to return to the Street for six weeks by show chiefs.

The 54-year-old actor, who plays layabout Les Battersby, was suspended without pay due to allegations that during a drinking bender he revealed closely guarded storyline secrets and mouthed off about his colleagues.

A spokeswoman for the soap said: 'It is alleged that Mr Jones got drunk and made inappropriate comments in a public place. ITV takes these allegations very seriously and will be looking into them further.'

Producers are now rewriting scripts to explain Les's absence.
