Amy Winehouse: I did cut myself

Singer admits to self harming when she was younger

Ever since Amy Winehouse was snapped with strange red marks on her arms there's been speculation the star was self-harming.

Now the singer has admitted that she does have a history of cutting herself, but says she only did it when she was younger.

'It's a funny thing, a morbid curiosity,' she told Q Magazine. 'I'm talking about when I was nine. What does that feel like? "Ow, that f***ing hurts." It's propably the worst thing I've done.'

But even though Amy, 23, says that's all in the past now, she admits she still suffers from bouts of depression and can end up 'slapping herself'.

'Not punching myself in the face, but slapping,' she says. 'I drank a whole bottle of champagne and then just got depressed. I didn't feel like I looked good. And I'm quite self-destructive when I'm drunk.'
