Glam birthday bash for Elton

Star chooses understated outfit for big day

You'd have thought Elton John would've pulled out all the stops when it came to picking an outfit for his 60th birthday bash.

But the star, who celebrated at a star-studded party in New York, kept things low-key with a simple tuxedo. Although he did manage to glitz things up a bit with a silver tie.

The singer was joined at the soirée by his partner David Furnish and a host of celebs, including Liz Hurley, Donatella Versace, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne and Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Guests partied the night away at the extravagant bash held in a cathedral bedecked with thousands of flowers.

'We were expecting Elton to wear something wild,' one partygoer told The Sun. 'Perhaps he's gone more conservative now he's 60.'
