He’ll take on Paul O’Grady in teatime ratings war
Thursday, 26 July 2007
Vernon Kaye is set to sign a £2m deal with ITV1 to launch his own teatime chatshow.
The 5pm programme is being lined up to go head-to-head with ratings winner the Paul O’Grady show on Channel 4.
The format – pitched by Vernon, 33, to ITV bosses - is expected to be a mix of chat, comedy and music.
‘Vernon has bags of ideas and is really keen to do something in the 5pm slot,’ a source tells The Sun.
‘He went to ITV and they like the idea because they want to grow him into one of their main entertainment faces.
'He already presents Family Fortunes and Gameshow Marathon.’
We're sure wife Tess Daly will love his new salary.
